eLearning in Action has been the theme (brand) associated with the educational technology department here at the Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology. There are three main components to the brand:

Ed Tech News and Faculty training and support: This site provides faculty with latest news about developments in the world of educational technology and eLearning. In addition, there is an extensive range of online training materials (built around key ICT competencies) to assist faculty with their eLearning needs.

eLearning in Action Conference: For the last 6 years, we have organized an eLearning conference for educators based here in the UAE. This year (2012), there were 40 presentations and over 320 delegates attended. The main aim of the conference is not academic, but to look at practical applications of eLearning and educational technology in learning environments. For that reason, it has proved very popular amongst educators.

HCT Educational Technology Series: In 2012, the conference was enhanced by the publication of 18 articles by presenters as part of the HCT Educational Series, of which I’m the lead editor. The 2013 book is currently being put together
